We receive frequent inquiries about volunteering at our orphanage, the Sunrise Home Youth Development Center*. We welcome this generosity. Sunrise Home being a non-profit organization, all volunteers must understand that they are personally responsible for their own financial needs: transportation, accommodation and food. These expenses vary over time; investigating your costs needs to be part of your decision to volunteer before contacting us.
Volunteering in Myanmar involves some preparation. Visas need to be arranged, your reasons must be non political, and the culture must be understood and respected.
This said, part of our philosophy is to support local people with their skills at our orphanage.
However, we are happy to receive voluntary assistance in the following areas:
